NMA 2008: PSquare emerges Artist of the Year

Musical group, P Square, on Saturday won the Nigerian Artiste of the Year award in the 2008 Nigerian Music Award Ceremony held at the Imo Cenotaph on the Concorde Hotel Road, Owerri.
The group, which also produced the Record of the Year Award, defeated other top Nigeria musicians and groups like Timaya, Olu Maintain, D‘ Banj and Asa to win the coveted trophy of the 2008 awards, where not less than 20 different categories of awards were given to key players of the music industry in the country.
Another prominent musical star, Tu Face Idibia‘s Grass 2 Grace,” won the Album of the Year award, defeating P Square‘s Game Over, Timaya‘s True Story, Olu Maintain’s ‘Yahooze and Asa‘s Asa.Tu Face also won the R$B Song of the Year award.
However, the Song of the Year award went to Olu Maintain‘s Yahooze which was selected over P Square‘s ‘Do Me‘, X-Project’s Lorile, Asa‘s Fire on the Mountain‘ while home boy, Ugo Stevenson‘s ‘Nda Chineke‘ scaled the hurdles to beat all entries for the Best Higlife Artiste of the Year.
The well-organised and massively attended awards ceremonies also saw Sammy Okposo clinching the Best Gospel Artiste of the Year, Paul Nwokocha (best traditional gospel artiste, 9ice, best new artiste male, and T.Y Bello best female artiste of the year. |
