Governor Gbenga Daniel on Friday told the Akarigbo of Remo, Oba Adeniyi Sonariwo, that there was no need to lynch the members of the state House of Assembly over the recent conflict between the governor and the lawmakers.

Speaking in Sagamu at the turning of the sod for the Sagamu Stadium, and the new orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps, Daniel told the audience that the lawmakers were “now his brothers.”

The Akarigbo had said if the lawmakers still continue with their troubles, the people of the state will not hesitate to lynch them.”

The monarch reeled out the achievements of Daniel and wondered why some people would continue to give him ‘trouble’.

“So, if they (lawmakers) still continue to give our dear governor any problem, they should know that we are also ready to lynch them,” he said.

Daniel, sensing the grave import of the statement of the Akarigbo, who is one of the four paramount rulers in the state, quickly responded to the monarch‘s comment, noting that the trouble in the state was over and did not call for such a drastic measure.

“May I just tell Kabiyesi that our lawmakers are now behaving very well and we do not need to lynch them. We are now brothers and doing our best to contribute to the development of the state,” he said.

The governor said the NYSC orientation camp, whose cost was not disclosed, would be able to accommodate 6,000 corps members when completed.

“I have the belief that in the next 18 months, I should be here to inaugurate the camp and the stadium,” said the governor at the site of the projects on Old Ikenne Road, Sagamu, which will share boundaries with the new stadium.
